Cultivating Harmony

I've been thinking a lot about what makes a space feel like home. And it hit me: it's all about being genuinely present and soaking in the moment. It's just enjoying a good laugh or a quiet evening together when everything feels right. That's what I aim to bring into every home I design.

Mindfulness: A Catalyst for Creativity and Connection

Mindfulness, this incredible journey of being in the now, has been a game-changer for me and my work at Leslie Cohen Design. Imagine a place that's breathtaking to look at and captures the true essence of living—peaceful, focused, and deeply connected to the natural beauty around us. That's the heart of it.

Being mindful helps me dive deep into what makes you, well, you. I tune into the little things that light up your world. Every detail matters, whether it’s how sunlight dances across the room or how a particular color makes you feel. It's all about creating a space that listens and understands you, almost like it reflects your soul.

Nature as an Inspiration

Nature is this endless well of inspiration, right? It teaches us about balance, harmony, and simplicity. Have you ever noticed how a leaf sheds water and thought, that’s precisely how my shower should feel? Or seen the soothing colors of the sunrise and wanted to wrap your room in that same warmth? That's how nature guides me in weaving these elements into designs that breathe life into your home.

In essence, nature teaches us to create spaces that not only look beautiful but also cater to our innate need to connect with the natural world. By drawing inspiration from the earth's own design playbook, we can craft interiors that resonate with the soul, offering comfort, inspiration, and a sanctuary from the bustling world outside.

Design with Purpose: Creating Spaces That Resonate with Life's Essence

Mindfulness in design begins with intention. It's all about creating environments that truly connect with people on a deeper level that speak to the essence of life. By incorporating mindfulness practices into the design process, interior designers can carefully choose elements that resonate with each client individually. From color choices to furniture placement, intentional design has a profound impact in creating harmonious spaces and enhancing the overall feel of each space.

Designing with intention goes beyond aesthetics; it involves understanding the needs and desires of those who are living in the space. Whether it’s creating a calming oasis for a master suite or a vibrant workspace, each element should be thoughtfully considered regarding how it will affect the well-being and experience of those who interact with it. The spaces we live in should inspire connection and nourish the soul.

If you’re curious about exploring mindfulness for yourself, there’s this wonderful place, the Mindful Awareness Research Center at UCLA, and Bliss Body Yoga in Raleigh. Diana Winston over at MARC has this amazing way of guiding you through mindfulness that resonates with how I approach design. Bliss Body Yoga is another source of inspiration for me, with Colby at the helm, we blend movement and mindfulness in a way that reminds us how our living spaces, much like our bodies, thrive on balance and harmony.

So, if you're dreaming of a home that doesn't just look stunning but feels like an embrace, a space that captures the beauty of simply being, I’d love to help! Let's craft not just a home, but a haven that speaks to your soul.
